Description
Part of a series of textual quilts made during 2020 shelter-in-place orders, this diptych is heavily pieced with a mix of neutral prints and a coffee-printed novelty fabric. The binding is a floral with metallic copper accents. This piece is handquilted with pale mauve embroidery thread and backed with a neutral beige.
Each piece of this diptych measures approximately 13″x18″. The first panel reads “Fuck the bread,” while the second reads, “The bread is over,” in reference to this beautiful piece of writing. There are inconsistencies in letter sizing, and some chalk markings that cannot be removed; these characteristics are in the spirit of the work and pricing reflects them.
Even my smallest art pieces have thousands of hand stitches. I piece by machine then hand quilt and finish, which results in a rich texture. This is a display piece, intended as wall art.
Art quilts are made for form more than function and are more delicate than my other pieces. If you want a quilt for regular use, please consider my functional quilts, which are sturdier and better sized for non-art applications.
